Mission of the Virginia Society, MOS&B
The
primary objectives of the Virginia Society include Heritage and
Preservation; Public Education; Membership Growth; and Support.
Heritage and Preservation include local and statewide projects,
which perpetuate the memory and deeds of both the commissioned
officers and elected and appointed officials who served the
Confederacy and other activities, which celebrate Confederate
History and its heroes. The Society is dedicated to an unwavering
defense of the good name and motivation of those we represent.
Public Education focuses upon study of the several causes for the
War Between the States, its military, governmental, and societal
consequences, and the necessity to present history factually in
order to dispel myth and ignorance. Membership Growth is
self-explanatory; some areas of the Commonwealth now are without
active members or chapters, and the Virginia Society is dedicated
to filling the gaps in its membership base.
Finally, the Virginia Society is committed to support its members
and local chapters and to facilitate communications between
members, chapters, and national offices. It also is dedicated to
maintaining a viable and active membership through this web site,
a statewide news-letter, and the participation of Society officers
in chapter, local, state, and national events. |
